The abundance of mineral resources makes the Atacama Desert and the Altiplano an indispensable part of the energy transition. The depletion of non-renewable water resources in the most arid area of the Earth and the large-scale destruction of these unique landscapes through mining activities appear to be the price for the chance of a liveable future.
It is often mentioned how much the Atacama Desert resembles the surface of Mars. And as devastated landscapes are commonly referred to as lunar landscapes, the struggle to keep Earth inhabitable is transforming Mars-Scapes into Moon-Scapes.

Amateur photographer with an interest in fascinating and remote landscapes and dystopian lost places. Especially, the combination of both give me photographical joy and inspiration by conveying a feeling of being lost not only in time but also in space.
