Bringing into dialogue changing landscapes and human communities, this book explores the fragilities and resiliences of the contemporary world. Icebergs, deserts, and volcanic terrains resonate with gestures, rites, and inherited knowledge sustained by cultures facing profound change. Through 80 photographs taken across five continents, Thibault Gerbaldi offers a nuanced reflection on the world’s impermanence and on humanity’s capacity to adapt. This volume accompanies the eponymous exhibition presented on the railings of the Jardin du Luxembourg in spring 2026.

Thibault Gerbaldi is a self-taught Leica photographer and passionate traveler, known for authentic stories from the world’s most remote regions. His work spans landscapes from Greenland to India, blending documentary, travel, and portrait. He has self-published seven books and earned recognition: 1st at Siena Awards 2025, International Photo Awards 2025, and TPOTY Rising Talent (2024). Exhibited globally and featured in LFI and LENS Magazine.A board member since 2019 he funds solidarity projects through donations linked to the dissemination of his books and photographic prints.
