Tender Excess (2025, France) is a staged photographic series that blends studio photography with constructed sets. Inspired by Renaissance and Baroque painting, it reinterprets classical visual language through contemporary photography and the imagination of childhood. Children inhabit carefully composed scenes marked by historical gestures, symbolic objects, and theatrical lighting, introducing tenderness and play into dramatic compositions. In doing so, the series transforms excess into intimacy and bridges time through curiosity and imagination.

Camila Girardelli is a Franco-Brazilian photographer based in France.

She undertook art and photography studies through courses at Central Saint Martins in London and the International Center of Photography in New York.

Throughout her career, she has been involved in projects with internationally recognised artists and filmmakers, including artist Vik Muniz, working as a still photographer on the Academy Award–nominated documentary Waste Land (2010).

Her work has been selected for inclusion in the collection of Amy Simon Fine Art, United States.
