Border Bodies

Migrants flock to the Rio Grande at the Texas-Mexico border, thinking it’s safer than the desert, but its dangerous currents have caused a rise in drownings. Eagle Pass authorities are overwhelmed by the challenge of identifying victims, leaving families to search for and repatriate loved ones. Over 1,100 drownings have occurred since 2017, many involving women and children. Despite barriers and increased patrols, people still risk their lives to cross.
