Nordic Reduction

Nordic Reduction portrays Nordic shoreline structures.
These structures mark the boundary between land and water. Photographed on Kodak Portra 160, the series reduces the landscape to line, surface, and proportion: not a view of the sea, but of what stands before it.

Renzo Cicillini is a Swiss photographer working primarily with analog medium format photography. He develops photographic series over time rather than around single images, often returning to the same places, structures and visual conditions.

His approach is deliberate and technical. Film choice, exposure and the translation of the negative into the final image are part of the work, not decisions made at the end.

Cicillini has spent much of his professional life in industrial leadership. Photography developed alongside that work and, over time, became a separate artistic practice.
