Light of a Warming World
The Light of a Warming World is a series intended to lure viewers into looking at, while being fascinated by the mechanics of climate change on the natural world. Through the use of infrared-spectrum cameras, we are able to see the light of heat, transforming mundane scenes into novel ones.
Traveling the world as an assignment photographer, I have carried infrared cameras and made photographs which revealed to me how deeply the landscape has been altered. From drunken trees in melting permafrost to flooded farmland, everywhere I went, I discovered lands bearing witness to unyielding heat.
Kiliii Yuyan is an indigenous Nanai/Hézhè & Chinese-American photographer and filmmaker. He has contributed award-winning features for National Geographic Magazine, TIME, NPR, and the BBC. Kiliii is also a National Geographic Expeditions Expert for the Arctic. He is based out of Seattle.
