not in our eyes

Silo is a huge space occupied by migrants from the Balkan route entering Italy in Trieste, a wealthy city on the border with Slovenia.

Between 100 and 500 migrants fit inside, depending on the period.

There are no chemical toilets and no one removes the waste. Resting on the dirty, pebble-filled soil are hundreds of makeshift tents. Rats run through them at night. Migrants escaping wars (from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iraq, Iran and Syria), are all young and live in those conditions for months, making dignity and beauty survive, waiting to receive refugee status.
