Sad Flowers

This project navigates the delicate interplay between object and image, employing an analogue printing method. The use of re-appropriated black and white paper imbues each piece with a layered history both physical and conceptual. The use of non-traditional for photogram chemicals heightens the element of unpredictability. Due to resisting the traditional closure of the tree-bath developing process with fixer remnants, the work is in an exploratory state, allowing each piece to evolve post-exposure. This ongoing transformation reflects the project's core theme: impermanence.

Evgeniy Kazannik is a visual artist with a focus on analogue printing techniques and synthesized sound. After studying photography at the London College of Communication (University of the Arts London), he spent over fifteen years as a commercial photographer. He moved away from working with traditional camera techniques in 2019 and started developing a new analogue process instrumenting Photogram among others. Yev’s work, which often investigates themes of time, light, human mind and perception, invites viewers to engage with the subtleties of visual and auditory experience.
