The series “Only Human” depicts the almost sublime beauty of desolation in landscapes shaped and wounded by humans. The motifs are of an industrial, commercial or urban character. Katja Gragert stages these human relics in wintry, snow-covered landscapes, giving the dreary and desolate-seeming motifs an aesthetic lightness that creates a surreal visual experience in the viewer, who is equally attracted and repelled by what he sees. The title alludes to human weaknesses, which are often used as an excuse for people's actions: It's only human.
