This photograph shows artisans working at the Nagoya Yanagibashi Marunaka Food Center Building, one of the most prominent markets in Japan, established in 1948. The Nagoya Yanagibashi Marunaka Food Center Building was built in the early 1950s on a site of 2,200 tsubo (about 1,860 square meters), with the aim of establishing a modern "food town.
In October 1969, specialty stores handling all kinds of foodstuffs opened their doors, and selected artisans from the three Tokai prefectures gathered in the building, which was born as a comprehensive food market building.
