The white tailed eagles are a majestic sight in North Hokkaido, they grow in numbers when the ice pack breaks up and they can hunt easily for food. This particular eagle was photographed coming into land on the pack ice with its claws out, always ready to get a fish. This was shot hand held with a 500mm lens, which allowed me to capture a close up of the detail of the eagle.
