The Guge Dynasty, born from the Zhangzhung kingdom in Tibet's western Ali region, became a significant Buddhist power post the Tibetan Empire's decline. However, internal conflicts between the king and his religious leader, along with the interference of Western missionaries, led to turmoil. In 1633, a rebellion erupted, and the king's brother allied with Ladakh's royal family to attack Guge's capital.
