The Kiyv region, within days of the Russian army's retreat, appeared like a ghost region, where the echoes of fear and violence resonate in the silence left behind by the war. Visiting Borodyanka, Irpin or Bucha, near the capital, as well as in many other villages in the areas surrounding Kyiv, the horror unveiled by the retreat of the Russian army was clearly visible, while the fear and uncertainty about the fate of the conflict extended far beyond to less affected areas such as Lviv.

More than a year after the start of the war in Ukraine, the fate of the conflict is still uncertain.
