Shanghai’s was merely the largest of a series of disruptive urban lockdowns over the past three years. 2022 in Shanghai, China has experienced unimaginable lockdown measures due to the pandemic. On April 1, the city of 26 million went into lockdown. As of Oct. 24, 28 cities were implementing varying degrees of lockdown measures, with around 207.7 million people affected in regions responsible for around $3.55 trillion of China's gross domestic product, according to Nomura.
