Defusion

In a world that spins madly, I create moments of softness, stillness, and intimacy. I focus on the beauty of life close to us. Health problems make my life a daily challenge. Dark periods alternate with moments of subdued light. Freedom and happiness are not always a given. You have to keep looking to find something to hold on to. Defusion, a technique used in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), involves distancing oneself from unhelpful thoughts and emotions. Making space for positive experiences. Through ACT, I was able to cope better with my health situation and picked up photography.

Twan Peeters (1974, Breda, The Netherlands) searches for moments of softness, stillness and intimacy. His photography focuses on the beauty of life close to us.

With a simple camera and an old prime lens, he captures nature around his house. The images are unpolished, often out of focus and grainy. His walks are short due to health problems. But he shows that if you change your focus and soften your eyes, there is plenty to admire.
