The Green Waterfall

It was a beautiful day with clear skies and the trees ready to turn into their autumn colors here in the far north. I went to photograph the road leading here with my drone. Happy with the photos I was heading home. While walking, I read the big news headlines on my phone: "The London Bridge has fallen." With head full of thoughts I kept walking. When arriving home I saw the aurora activity was high, so I swapped my drone for the camera and headed to the nearby cahkal waterfall where I witnessed some of the most impressive northern lights I had ever seen.

I am a 27 year old aurora photographer from Finland. Having spent most of my life living in big cities of south Finland I felt depressed not being able to see the night sky properly due to light pollution, so I moved to the northern parts of the country to small towns and villages. Big cities are a big no as I have no car so the dark skies must be within a walk distance away.

I move frequently as I enjoy discovering new rural locations in the arctic with each location having their own adventures and plan on creating a free astronomy club in Greenland.

Awards Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2022 shortlisted.
