This photo was captured in the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Richelieu Site, shortly after its reopening following a 12-year renovation period.

It is an abstract view of the new main staircase designed by Gaudin Architectes. The modern steel and aluminium staircase that winds up towards the upper floors replaces an old monumental one. The replacement didn’t go without controversy during the project phase.

To me this Grand staircase embodies the renewal of the Richelieu site. Taking this picture also coincided for me to what I feel is my renewed approach to photography, a turning point.
