Alone

This is "Mawarizeki Lake" in Aomori Prefecture. It is one of the coldest areas in Japan. A lonely tree stands on this lake. When I first visited this place, I felt the trees were very lonely and sad. This tree was very attractive. Since then, I have visited this place every winter. And I began to think that this tree was lonely and not sad. I felt this tree was playing with the sun. The tree standing on this lake was not alone.

Kazuhiro Yashima
1979: Born in Fukushima, Japan
2016: I started my career as a photographer.
I mainly shoot in Aomori Prefecture, the northernmost prefecture on Japan's main island of Honshu. It is a fascinating place where the four seasons, a characteristic of Japan, are most clearly felt. I have become obsessed with the charm of this land and only shoot in Aomori Prefecture.
