Surreal shadowland

The trans-Himalayan region of Ladakh, at an average altitude of 5000 metres, is a desert where only the hardiest of life manages to survive. Its winters are especially harsh, with frequent storms, and daytime temperatures frequently dropping to minus 30 degrees Celsius.
