Awake

This series began at the outset of the pandemic. It was my artist's answer to all the fear and uncertainty swirling through the world.

As someone who grew up behind the Iron Curtain during Communism, I've seen my share of darkness and feel that part of photography's greatest power is to capture and reveal the light within the dark. The pieces range from the whimsical to the more seriously symbolic, but each is a reflection of what is possible when we focus less on the surrounding chaos and more on our own inner light and the great potential we have to contribute good wherever we are.

EVA KOLEVA TIMOTHY grew up under the shadow of Communism in Eastern Europe. Yet under the tutelage of her artist father she learned to
cherish the pursuit of personal passion and the freedom to view the world for its possibilities, whatever the circumstance.

As a photographer Eva is also widely known for her enthusiasm about art's inherent power to focus, refine, and inspire. Eva's work has been collected and published and exhibited
internationally and has been exhibited at various galleries, art centers & institutions including the Smithsonian, the MFAH and Oxford University.
