Painting as a medium should not be limited to the surface of a canvas. In this series, my face and body serve as my canvas to confront the constraints of history, ideologies, notions of the self, and contemporary realities. This is a series of shifting photographic artworks that embody silhouettes saturated in color and warped by pattern. Photographs in this series create an optical illusion where the subject of the photograph almost disappears yet it is impossible to ignore them. They both blend into the fabric background and stand out at the same time.
