Mixedness is my Mythology

Our South African (great)grandparents were forced to relocate during the segregation process of apartheid while she grew up on a farm in the Netherlands. On the farm wel call home, the genes of our South-African mother meets those of our Dutch father with love. Our family, without having a choice, is defined as coloured people, while growing up in the Netherlands, we experience the space to create who we want to be. Reclaiming our iconography and with that accepting and acknowledging our heritage.
Our heritage of oppression and dividing transforms into a contemporary fusion of 'mixedness'.
