The city of Boston

His parents thought he’d grow up to be an architect. They weren’t far off.
Dale Cruse grew up near Chicago. As a kid, when his family would drive to the city, his face was stuck against the car window, gazing upward at all the amazing architecture. It calmed him to notice details others didn’t.

He started his career as a U.S. Army photojournalist during the transition from film to digital. While deployed to Bosnia and Croatia, he felt drawn to all the buildings damaged during the long civil war. In 1995 and 1996, he became one of the early warchitecture photographers.
