A portrait of British Family

This photographic series features informal portraits of diverse middle-class dual-income British families, with their children at home in their nests.
On a wintery Saturday afternoon Guy, founder and creative director of ‘Dashing Tweeds’ and his wife Natasha, a senior partner at Freshfields Solicitors gather with their progeny Amelia 17, Hector 16, and Rex 13 for a family portrait along with their dog George. A cozy fire creates an intimate atmosphere as Guy spins yarn on an old fashion spinning machine with Amelia strumming her guitar and the boys play a game of chess.

Carol Allen Storey is an award-winning documentary photo journalist specialising in chronicling complex humanitarian and social issues.

“My images are intimate, about issues and citizens I deeply care about. I believe photographs may not be capable of doing the moral work for us, but they can trigger the process of social consciousness.”

In 2000 Carol graduated Central St. Martins, Master Photography Programme with distinction. Storey’s further degrees include an MA at Columbia University and a BA at Syracuse University. A native New Yorker, Storey resides in London
