Freeman Vines, Hanging Tree Guitars, No. 2

Freeman Vines is a 78 year old artist, luthier and spiritual philosopher whose works and writings confront lynching and the legacy of slavery. Vines is pictured with his guitars in a field near his home in Eastern North Carolina. The chemical irregularities present in the photograph enhance the mystical quality of both the artist and his sculptures.

Timothy Duffy is a renowned photographer and founder of the Music Maker Relief Foundation.
