Art and science are seamlessly woven into a coffee table book featuring 190 floral portraits/landscapes made over 27 years, and essays by 16 scientists/nature writers. From Death Valley Nat’l Park to high mountain passes, images were made in the field using our “natural light” studio. We carefully photograph live flowers with black or white backgrounds to create images that look like they were made in a studio setting. Rob created new, unique techniques: Contact Series -flowers gently touch the lens; Wrapped Series -flowers enfolded in black or white fabric to complement their geometric forms.

Photographers Rob Badger & Nita Winter: life partners & creative collaborators for over 3 decades. They discovered & fell in love with California's spectacular wildflower blooms in the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve, inspiring their 27 year journey photographing wildflowers throughout the West. 2016: their documentary art project became a traveling exhibit, “Beauty and the Beast: California Wildflowers and Climate Change” with a new companion book. Featured in NBC TV, Time, Mother Jones & Sierra magazines, New York Times, Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle & Los Angeles Times.
