Under the highway of Kee-Long City lies the biggest Taiwanese
fish market.

Unlike other markets, the fish market starts at midnight, and ends
before dawn. During these hours, all the wholesalers of northern
Taiwan gather here for the freshest fish and best bargain they can
get.

The owner of every fish store stand at the front gate, usually with
one leg on top of the weight, waiting for the bidders to come. I
looked at him, he knows I’m not his client, but I know by his stares
that he allows me to take a photo of this moment.

Morning comes, and everything goes back to quietness in the
morning again, waiting for the next midnight to star.

It’s the symbol Taiwanese peasants life, and the energy it carries.
