An Indian boy flies a kite during the Hindu festival Makar Sankranti in Bundi, Rajasthan.

In the state of Rajasthan the festival is celebrated by flying kites from sunrise to sunset.

The goal is to keep a kite up in the sky for as long as possible. Battles between kite flyers or 'kite fighting' is to be expected. Each kite flyer will try and cut the line of others, bringing their opponents kite down.

Kite flying is a traditional sport in India, deeply rooted in Indian history and culture.
