This series is about loss of innocence, abuse, shame, and family secrets. This is a tribute to my aunt who was committed to a California state hospital by my family in the 1930s because she was mentally retarded. Doctors commonly performed government-funded eugenics and radiation experiments on the inmates. In fact, at the time it was called the "eugenics movement". They taught their techniques to the Nazis who brought the technology back to concentration camps in Germany.
Every time I pick up my camera it is as the first and I fall in love all over again.
