L'homo citadinus, ce citoyen forme certainement aujourd'hui la majorité de la population de la planète. Mes photos le montrent, anonyme dans son milieu naturel, un environnement globalement froid, géométrique, voire démesuré. Du Japon à Angoulême, en passant par Berlin ou Bordeaux, les occasions ne manquent pas de surprendre un spécimen au détour d'une rue. Le noir et blanc s'est rapidement imposé à moi: il épure les photos pour transmettre l'essentiel, magnifie les textures, les contrastes et les jeux de lignes et de courbes. Simple silhouette ou personnage ridiculement petit, l'homo citadinus joue donc avec les formes, les ombres et la lumière. Et il ne s'en lasse pas, merci à lui!
Most of the Earth's population is now certainly composed of this citizen called "Homo Urbanicus". In my photographs, this subject is depicted as an anonymous person in his/her natural setting: a mostly cold, geometric, indeed disproportionate environment. From Japan to Angoulême to Berlin or Bordeaux, there are plenty of opportunities to catch a specimen at the bend in the street. Black and white photography rapidly became my obvious choice: it helps focusing on the best part of the photographs by refining them, while sublimating textures, contrasts, and line and curve effects. The homo urbanicus - sometimes an ordinary figure and sometimes a ridiculously small character - plays with shapes, shadows and light without ever growing tired of it�thanks to him!
