Steamrail Victoria is an organisation dedicated to the restoration and operation of vintage trains and locomotives, staffed mainly by volunteers. On meeting the volunteers l was immediately struck by their quite sense of achievement and immense pride in their work. l found myself returning again and again to not only capture the individual unique characters of those who share a love of trains, but the haunting and harsh beauty of the machines themselves. These images convey the integrity and passion of an organisation which, in an era of technology expansion, is dedicated to preserving and protecting a simpler way of life.
