Summer

During the summer months of 2009, I visited the Rockaway Beach seashore in Queens, New York each day at sunset. Some days held a bright orange-pink sky, while others were gray and foreboding.

A keen interest in abstraction informs my images, incorporating colors and shapes as well as subject matter into my compositions.

Using only the water and sand in most images allowed me to create a minimal interpretation of the vast sea and shore before me.

Choosing to avoid any sign of human presence, I included only what nature provided. But, all images in this series reflect the central theme of changing light and shifting tides.
