France. 2025. Aumelas. Arrival of the flock.

Dating back at least 4,000 years and having declined only in the 20th century, transhumance on foot remains a rare practice. It is an opportunity to bring together family and friends at the beginning of summer, to explore and discover varied lands during a few long days of walking. This image was taken in the north of the département of Hérault, in the village of Aumelas, at the start of a 3-days hiking journey up to Alzon, 60km up north where the sheep will spend the summer.

After 35 years as an amateur, I've decided to join the professional photography world. After a long spell doing mostly travel photography, for the past 6 years I focused on analog-based landscape photography. This practice was an introspective quest aimed at reconnecting with myself and exploring my emotions. I am currently completing a creative documentary course with Spéos Photography School and Magnum Photos in Paris. My main interest is to document climate change and the energy transition. I will pursue landscape as a purely creative endeavour.
