Dani people in the Baliem Valley in Highland Papua, Indonesia. Discovered only in the last century.
The Dani women wear skirts made from woven orchid fibres decorated with straw and woven bags, worn from the head, called 'noken'. Paint embellishes their face and body.
Besides farming, the women make handicraft and souvenir for sale. When visitors arrive, they lay out their ware in a line hoping to close a sale, never hustling the visitors. Their children will run around them at the same time.
The pandemic prompted a rethink of life and fired a desire to travel, see and understand the world. Travelling the world to open my eyes and mind, I strive to use my humble skill to capture the human condition through the lens.
