This piece was captured during an early morning walk in early winter around Kodiak Lake in Basalt, Colorado. I had taken my elderly mother to go see a surgeon specialist and had just dropped her off for her appointment and decided to take a walk to clear my head and saw this beautiful reflection of trees in the water from an island sitting amidst the lake that made me stop and appreciate the beauty of life. Handheld single exposure, Nikon Z8 + Nikkor 50mm F/1.8 AF-D
I am a passionate and life-long lover of photography and nature. For me, this hobby started when I was a child and I am following in my father's footsteps. As I was growing up I often watched him as he would carefully compose photographs with his Minolta 35mm camera and then later process film in the bathroom of our home. Tagging along with him fascinated me with the technical aspects of the camera and the beauty of the nature and wildlife we captured. My photographic style is heavily influenced by starting with film, and I minimally process my photos preferring to get it right in camera.
