The green markings generally indicate the left-hand side of the fairway (when travelling towards land).
The red markings, on the other hand, are located on the right-hand side of the fairway and are usually cylindrical or conical in shape.
In Brittany, these markings also have a special aesthetic significance, as they form a striking contrast to the natural surroundings in the rugged, sometimes fog-covered coastal landscape. They give the coastal regions a unique visual charm, especially on the rocky islands, where they are perceived as a symbol of the connection between nature and technology.
Driven by her fascination for photography and design, the Munich based French-German photographer Sonia Aumiller (born 1971) completed her studies at the University of Applied Arts in Paris with a mélange of skills. From learning how to develop analog film to sharpening her sense of image composition and colour, she eventually opted to specialise in design and embarked on a career in fashion that spanned twenty years. She retreated from the fast-paced, cut-throat world of fashion to devote her artistic passion entirely to photography.
