Ray of shadow

  • Photographer
    Kohei Toda, Japan

A woman in a dark green kimono at Kasuga-taisha shrine in Nara, Japan, a World Heritage Site built over 1,200 years ago, where the main shrine has been repainted in 'honshu' (red). Honju is the most expensive red pigment and has a noble depth of colour. The red seen slightly in the background is the honshu.
