The Potosi mine, active since 1545, produced so much wealth that the city became one of the largest in America. Today the situation is very different; miners extract around 5,000 tonnes of various minerals every day working in precarious situations, to earn an average of only 500 dollars a month in the hope of making their fortune by finding large veins of silver.
Even today, many young people find work in the mines because they have no alternative employment or because, as no degree is required, they can easily earn money. Coca leaves and ethyl alcohol is what gives them strength every day.
My passion for tribal people has allowed me to visit several states in India, Asia and Africa to take photo-reportage such as those on the last tattooed women, both Indian and Burmese and Ethiopian tribes. Reportage, however, is not the only photographic genre that excites me but I am generally attracted to everything that strikes me from a photographic point of view.
I teach photography and I am the author of three illustrated books.
My photos have been exhibited in various exhibitions receiving prizes and awards.
