Changpa Nomad

The Changpa nomads are a nomadic goat herding tribe that migrate across the mountainous high desert of the Ladakh region in India.Living in the thin air between 4000-5000m, these nomadic farmers move their flocks as the seasons, snow melt & grasses change.

As we drove down the barren remote road away from the nomadic camp, we stumbled upon Makpa Tswana and his herd making their way back towards his camp.

My local driver Sonam asked in Ladakhi if he’d mind having his portrait taken. We shot for about 20 frames before the light changed and he’d carried on his way with the goats.
