Time stripped Bare

  • Photographer
    Paul Dennis, Australia

These artefacts were created while stripping layers of old paint from a door. This was part of a process of renovation and rejuvenation of the old.

I noticed as I worked, melting the paint with a heat gun and scraping the paint, that these, very striking, folded sculptural forms were made as the layers of paint cooled.

They were strange and so beautiful that I decided to save these, brittle, delicate forms as they cooled and photograph as many as I could make. They speak to the layers of time lived and folds and complexity of our existence.
