Roaming the street and backyards of the province of Uttar Pradesh in India, the mixed presence of people and animals, also in cramped spaces, is unusual and striking for the Western eye. In this series I strived to capture the beauty of this quiet and natural co-existence. The animals share whatever is available, which is often very little. It serves to remind me of the many forms and expressions of existence. All valid, all beautiful, all emanating from the necessities and realities of life. All deserve our respect and appreciation
