Beautifully Brutalist

Brutalism is an architectural style which developed from the modernism of the Bauhaus, pioneered by Le Corbusier. It was widely employed from the 50s to the late 70s in urban redevelopment, commercial and civic projects. It celebrates the use of bare materials, usually concrete, and stark imposing design. Whilst it fell out of favour and is perceived negatively by the public, brutalism is now appreciated for its bold and innovative design. My series seeks to artistically re-interpret brutalist architecture and present it as a new aesthetic, worthy of value in urban design and living.
