Taken through the window of my car on a rainy Winter's day in Port Kembla. I prefer to let the photograph do the talking, but would like to mention that although I believe a photograph allows for great verisimilitude and clarity, a lot of emotive power can come from its ability to convey atmosphere. This photograph is not about preserving detail, but about the presence of the structure - which is revealed in different ways at different times.
John was born in 1972, the youngest of four children.
After graduating from Macquarie University (B.A. Mass Communications, 1995) he moved to country NSW, to live with his Aunty and Uncle and pursue an interest in b/w photography.
In 1998 he returned to Sydney. In 2001 he commenced caring for his parents.
He has held a number of solo exhibitions - two at Gallery Xposure (Rozelle, Sydney) in 2004, and three in Wollongong, the latest of these being at the Wollongong Art Gallery (April 2022).
