Urging the marchers onward

On the 23rd day of the 350-mile-long march north from Delano, California, where the modern farm worker movement began, to the California state capitol in Sacramento, Flor Martinez Zaragosa (27), a DACA candidate, spurs marchers forward by re-staging a famous photograph made of farm worker union leader Dolores Huerta in 1966, during the the early days of the grape strike and boycott.

I am a bilingual, academically-trained historian/photojournalist (Ph. D. Wisconsin), author of a multi-volume scholarly history of California farmworkers. I founded my own business, Streetshots agricultural photography. For 30 years I worked as an agricultural photographer/journalist, defined broadly, in order to remain submerged in the industry that is the setting for my field of expertise.
