Listening to the Water

This project started as a way for me to reconnect with my photography after going into a mental funk from the pandemic. I needed a challenge to motivate me so I decided I'd combine my love of photography and biking to get me out.

As I made these images, I was amazed at the improvement in my mental health. The realization came in a moment when I was setting up a shot and I could hear the water on the shore. I was frustrated with my cold, numb fingers struggling in the dark after I had forgotten my head light. However, as I listened to the water I could feel those dark thoughts washing away.

Hi, I'm Joshua Haller. I'm a photographer and designer living and working out of Bellingham, USA.

Someone once remarked that photography is in my blood. That resonates with me. I don't just take photos; creating photographic art is part of who I am. I capture moments, looking for what lies beneath the surface - the moods, emotions, and character of people and places.
