Emerald Sky

This is a photo I captured of the Northern Lights from my backyard in Michigan, United States.

The Northern Lights is an incredible phenomenon to witness. I cannot put it into words how astonishing it was to experience this.

To the naked eye, the Northern Lights actually look grey. (At least, that's how they looked to me from where I was viewing them.)

It's crazy to see all the colors the camera could pick up that my eye could not.

Even just seeing this in-person in grey was an incredible phenomenon. I hope everyone gets the opportunity at least once.

Kirsti Wall de Cordero is a fine art photographer. Her work has been featured in galleries internationally and has earned recognitions by the Tokyo International Foto Awards and PX3 Prix de la Photographie, Paris. Additionally, her work was awarded by the International Photography Awards.

She uses photography as both a hobby and an outlet to understand the world around her. Some of her earliest memories include viewing her surroundings through a disposable film camera; however, after a traumatic brain injury, photography became a lifejacket for her to remember the things her mind could not.
