From my Lake Fyans series, the absence of sky or land in these compositions results in a unique, painterly interpretation of just trees, water, and reflections of the surrounding landscape, presenting abstractions of nature that create another place in the viewers imagination. They feature watery textures awash with the intense energy of colour, and make a strong statement about ordinary locations taking us to otherworldly places. These images have a sense of movement and at the same time, complete stillness, encouraging contemplation, and reflection.
As a Photographic Artist, I am inspired by, and search for, beauty in the natural world. I’m drawn to textures, colours, patterns, forms and light and shade in the landscape and in nature. These design elements feature strongly in my art, no doubt due to my education in graphic design. I love to capture detail and explore various interpretations and compositions of a scene or subject. My professional expertise as an Art Director enables me to capture images with the intent of elevating an ordinary subject to one that aims to be visually extraordinary.
Awards Over the last few years, I've received recognition from international and local (Australian) photography competitions, in various categories including Fine Art, Nature, Landscape and Abstract.
