For more than 40 years, Europe lived with the nuclear threat of the Cold War. For the book, historian Arnold Pronk and photographer Martin Bruining travelled to the sites where Soviet nuclear missiles were once located. From the far north region of Murmansk to Crimea in the south, these forgotten sites are scattered along one long, continuous chain.

This book is more than a photo book. It also shows how big the threat actually was, and it gives an insight into the evolution of the various weapons systems. Through stories of change encounters and interviews with former military personal.
