We Used to Weave Ribbons

Up to the 1970s, the ribbon weaving industry was a major industry in the city of Wuppertal in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. But since then, many of the weaving factories in Wuppertal had to be shut down, and actually, some of the abandoned factory floors look as if decades ago, somebody just decided to pull the plug from one day to the next and to close the door, leaving the machinery, the looms, the reels and spools and the threads to decay. I managed to enter such an abandoned factory floor and to shoot this series just with available light, using a tripod.
