Esher Common is a sandy heath which is actively managed by the forestry commission to remove invasive species. As a result, there are a number of clusters of mature pine trees with heathland space between them, enabling more distant perspectives of them. After a several months of cloudy and wet weather, the sun appeared and the sandy heathland dried out quickly. I have used ICM to create a number of impressionistic images of these pine trees basking in the sunshine of early Spring, paying homage to one of my favourite painters and inspired by a recent retrospective exhibition in London.
